The Truth about Heart Disease Symptoms

The fear of heart disease has caused people to be much more cautious and more in tune with their health. It is a known fact that there are precautionary measures which can be done and healthier diet regimen which can be strictly observed that help lessen the risk of developing heart diseases.

Heart diseases are still considered as top causes of death among the young and old. It is heavily feared for the very large number of deaths it orchestrates yearly and worldwide. Heart diseases are very common and are deeply misunderstood especially when it comes to detecting its signs and symptoms.

With the unmatched popularity of the internet and quicker information exchange nowadays, it is imperative to a high degree that only the truths about heart diseases are made known and the misleading reports be exposed.

People who try hard to avoid becoming victims of heart disease usually do proper research on how to prevent and eliminate their risk of developing heart ailments and complications. The young and old should be made aware of the signs and symptoms of impeding heart disease so they can proactively change their lifestyle and habits to reduce their risk of developing them altogether.

Myth 1 – Chest pains that lead to cardiovascular diseases are only minimally curbed by a high fiber and low cholesterol diet.

Fact 1 - A high fiber diet has been proven to help reduce and minimize the risk for the development of symptoms such as chest pains. A healthier diet also assists in reducing the painful signs and symptoms of heart disease. Lowering your cholesterol level is the key to prevention and eradication of this deadly disease. It is very important to note that the diet would only be truly effective if partnered with ample amounts of exercise.

Myth 2 – Diabetes and hypertension are not to be considered as symptoms of heart and cardiovascular diseases as they are not similar in nature and origin. They are not tied-in closely enough to truly be considered as possible risk factors of heart disease development.

Fact 2 - Inflammation which is measured by C-reactive protein ties all three together closely and is a main factor in considering diabetes and hypertension as probable indicators for heart disease. Although diabetes and hypertension are not positive indicators of any cardiovascular problems, it is indeed best to be wary that these diseases are still connected to a certain degree. Although there was one extremely well done in-depth research by a group of popular researchers which indicated that CRP (C-reactive Protein) is only a moderate risk factor for cardiovascular disease. The study (better known as the Reykjavik Study) found that worsening diabetes and unmanaged or untreated hypertension most often lead to the development of cardiovascular complications such as heart attack and myocardial disease. Also, a research done using well over 700 nurses brought to light that individuals who have above normal transfat consumption were found to have C-reactive protein in their bloodstream.

Myth 3 – Heart disease symptoms (hypertension and breathing problems) cannot be treated with aspirin. Aspirin is chemically incapable of assisting with the fight against heart disease. It was not created for such purpose and therefore should not be used for any other purpose aside from its primary indication of use.

Fact 3 - Aspirin is known as an anti-platelet agent. It prevents platelets from clumping together, thereby helping to prevent the formation of blood clot in the blood vessels surrounding and circulating within the heart. Its mechanism of action is known to be effective that it is highly recommended and endorsed by medical professionals. Hypertension and problems associated with difficulty of breathing are fully treated by aspirin without any side-effects or complications.

Myth 4 – Vomiting and nausea never present themselves before a heart attack.

Fact 4 – Nausea and vomiting are possible symptoms of the development of heart disease. The abovementioned symptoms are some of the indications of an impending heart attack. Vomiting and nausea are usually heightened by physical activity or exertion.

Myth 5 –Pain in the chest radiating to body extremities and such parts as the jaw and arms are not positive cardiovascular disease indicators unless accompanied by profuse sweating.

Fact 5 – This is a total myth as sweating proves to be a presenting symptom together with the sensation of pain to the extremities and different parts of the body. Cold, clammy skin is actually one of the best known symptoms as chest pain radiating to the extremities coupled with sweating are sure signs that a cardiovascular problem is at hand. These three telltale symptoms come together to provide ample warning to an individual as this combination occur among individuals who suffer from cardiovascular problems and crisis. The myth of sweating (the third) not being integral is quite terrible as it would be depriving people of a very useful tool for detecting the presence of a heart condition.

Deeper understanding of how to prevent and manage heart disease helps people deduce and implement ways and means on how to effectively avoid heart disease or in some cases, treat the ailment right away. As the inherent risks can be significantly lowered, it is sad that heart disease conditions still claim a lot of people’s lives.

The risk for heart disease may be reduced through proper and sufficient health education, management, and prevention. Heart diseases can only be avoided altogether if each and every one of us becomes more conscious and more proactive in leading a healthier lifestyle.
