Arteriosclerosis of Peripheral Blood Vessels Important physical finding include decreased or absent pulse, muscle atrophy.In more severe disease hair loss, thickened nails, smooth and shiny skin, reducedskin temperature, pallor, ulcers or gangrene of the limb and peripheral edema. Most common symptom is intermittent claudication defined aspain, ache, cramp, numbness or a sense of fatigue in the muscles (more common inlower limbs) This occurs during exercise and relieved by rest. In severe cases pain is present even during rest. High cholesterol symptoms also include skin changes in chronic and familialtypes. These skin manifestations are known as Xanthoma. Xanthoma is described as yellow colored skin lesions found in highcholesterol level. Types of Xanthoma 1.Xanthelasma Site: Found on the eye lids
2.Tendon Xanthomas Site: Tendo achilles and extensor finger tendons
